# Workspaces > A workspace in MailCamp is your account as seen by the people you invite into it. Workspace members keep their own login and switch to your workspace from the user menu; inside it they work with user-level access. ## What it is Where a **user** is an account of your own company, a **workspace member** is someone who works in your account without being part of it. Typical members are an agency, a freelancer, or a colleague who already has a user account and needs to act in this specific workspace. A member never receives your password: they sign in with their own credentials and choose your workspace from the workspace switcher in the user menu. Inside a workspace, a member has user-level access: campaigns, contacts and reports, but not billing, users or account-wide settings. Workspace members are managed by an administrator under Settings → Workspace. ## Key concepts - **Workspace**: the account context a member switches into. The switcher lists every workspace a person can act in, plus their own account. - **Company member**: a member who is also a user of your company. Must exist as a user first (Administrator → Users); is added immediately and needs no invitation e-mail. Takes a seat in the subscription like any user. - **External member**: a person outside your company, invited by e-mail. Takes no seat and only sees this workspace. - **Invitation status**: **Pending** means the invitation e-mail was sent but not accepted yet; **Active** means the person can switch to the workspace. ## Common workflows ### Adding a company member 1. Make sure the person exists as a user under Administrator → Users. If not, create the user first; the invite dialog links there directly when no colleagues are available. 2. Open **Settings → Workspace** and choose **Invite member**. 3. Choose **Company member**, select the user, and add them. ### Inviting an external member 1. Open **Settings → Workspace** and choose **Invite member**. 2. Choose **External, by email** and enter the person's e-mail address. 3. Send the invitation. The person receives an e-mail with a link and must be signed in with exactly that address to accept. ### Resending or revoking - A pending invitation can be resent from the row menu. - **Revoke access** removes a member (or a pending invitation) immediately. The person's own account is not affected. ## Relationship to users Users and roles cover your own team's access to the whole account (see the users document). Workspaces cover collaboration with people who should only act inside your account as a guest.
